Acts 17:1-15 The God Who Redefines

For New Year’s Day, I had the opportunity to preach at CrossRoads of Arlington.  The message came from Acts 17.1-15, where Luke described the apparent successes and failures of Paul as he travelled from city to city telling people about Jesus.  On 3 consecutive occasions (Philippi, Thessalonica, and Berea), Paul was forced to leave a city.

As we look back at 2011 and prepare for 2012, evaluating the past and preparing for the future, Paul’s experience helps us understand how God views success and failure.  In doing so, we see that God redefines the meaning of success and failure.  The bottom line becomes faithfulness rather than results.

But God isn’t just concerned with redefining how we evaluate our efforts, He goes deeper, redefining and remaking who we are, despite the labels and marks we affix to ourselves.

The audio version of the sermon is available here.

Have a great 2012!
